ANTI-AGEING IN YOUR 20S
Prevention is key.

Anti-ageing is a slightly confusing term- of course with skincare products alone, you can not literally reverse the ageing process. So what can you do? You can PREVENT further ageing, and REDUCE the effects of ageing. If you’re in your 20s, anti-ageing may not have even crossed your mind, right? Although you shouldn’t feel pressured by your age, it’s still important to take care of your skin at whatever point in life you’re at. In your 20s, there are things you can do to prevent the effects of ageing taking their toll later on. Here are 4 key steps every 20-something should be including in their self-care ritual.
1.Thorough cleansing.
Do you sometimes come in from a night out and just pass out in bed, makeup and all? We’ve all been guilty of this, particularly during college days! But it’s one of the worst things you can do for your skin. Getting into a solid cleansing routine will get rid of impurities, makeup, gunk, pollution, and goodness knows what else, from your skin. This helps to keep skin clear and as healthy as possible. Remember to use gentle, low pH cleansers to prevent stripping and drying out of your skin.

③ Beauty of Joseon Silky Moist Cleansing Foam 120ml
2. Hydration
Hydrating toners and essences are going to help keep skin soft, supple and prevent fine lines. If you already have a couple of fine lines, as I know I do, these products help to plump out those lines and prevent deepening. Simply pat them in after cleansing, and most will absorb within seconds. With such little effort, why wouldn’t you use them?! Top tip- dispense your toner into a misting bottle for an even quicker skin drenching that won’t interfere with your time.

3. Antioxidants
You’ve probably heard this word thrown around, but what exactly are they? Antioxidants protect your skin against free radicals. Free radicals are particles in our environment that damage our skin and ultimately speed up the aging process. Antioxidants neutralize the damaging free radicals and prevent the negative effects on our skin! Popular skincare antioxidants include Vitamins A, C, and E, Resveratrol, Green Tea, Niacinamide, and Polyphenols. Not only do these help prevent the signs of ageing, but they all have individual properties too, from brightening dull skin to smoothing skin texture. See which is in line with your skin aims, and incorporate antioxidant products into your routine. The Ordinary have some fantastic low-budget options.

4. Sunscreen
This is probably the most important skincare product you need to include in your daily routine. Whether it’s winter and cold or summer and hot, a broad-spectrum sunscreen is vital. That means a sunscreen that is going to protect you from both UVA and UVB rays. Both of these types of rays can lead to photoaging (essentially, wrinkles) and frighteningly, skin cancer. As much as we may love a tan, stick to the spray kind because a tan is the result of damage to your skin. Not cute. I generally find Asian sunscreens to be the most cosmetically elegant, meaning they won’t leave your face feeling oily nor have a heavy white cast. Invest in sunscreen and apply it daily.
